Depreciation of 2807 Raffel Rd.

At first glance one might think that these images are of a place in a way a survey photographer would take. However these images represent more than just how light falls on an abandoned barn or the texture of decaying wood. These images illustrate the idea of depreciation.
To the person driving down the narrow country road in Woodstock IL this may just be an old barn that goes unnoticed but to the architect or even the carpenters or electricians or plumbers who built the house this is their art work. Just like the photos of it are mine. Now it sits unnoticed, rotting, and depreciating as nature takes back the land it once had. Could one day these photographs who’s purpose is to document and preserve the past end up in the same condition, rotting and forgotten?
As you view the photos notice the composition and use of available light. More importantly keep in mind this idea of depreciation and your own work. How can you stop your art from becoming an abandoned barn on the side of a country road.
